The Hive automation platform

The Hive platform automates laboratory processes and is fully customizable using standard products to match your workflow, storage and throughput requirements. The Hive is unlike traditional automation platforms because it can be used in continuous operation mode. Adding simultaneous-access plate storage allows plates and consumables to be loaded and unloaded during runs, eliminating traditional deck resetting time. The Hive footprint is similar to that of most laboratory benches so it takes up less precious space in your lab. To take full advantage of the Hive automation platform, combine with our Hive Robot™ and unique Synapsis™ control software.

The unique design of the Hive automation platform allows the use of the entire workspace, including above- and below-deck spaces. It provides a compact system integration of our instruments and/or third-party devices without compromising performance. Most devices face the front of the platform for easy offline use and serviceability. When additional space is required to integrate many devices or larger devices, the automated system can be easily expanded — not limited to a specific size.

Option Simultaneous-Access Plate Storage

BeeSmart Kart

Simultaneous-access plate storage is a module option for the Hive. It provides adjunct storage to the Hive automation platform, enabling continuous operation and eliminating traditional deck resetting time. One side of the plate storage module is human-accessible, the other accessible to the Hive Robot. After the human-accessible side has been loaded, the plate store is rotated to present the freshly loaded side to the Hive Robot as a labware source. Meanwhile, the completed side is now human-accessible and processed labware can be replaced with fresh supplies. The plate store is fully customizable for any combination of plate types, consumables and capacity, and can be used in conjunction with fixed storage elsewhere on the Hive. The human-accessible side of the Hive can also be loaded using BeeSmart Karts™ which are manually loaded remote from the Hive. Supplies from various sample, reagent and consumable storage areas in different labs or floors in the building can be loaded onto the Karts and driven to the Hive for docking. Spent or partially used materials can then be disposed of or returned to the storage areas they originated from, with or without using the Karts.
